The ABC Project continues because of the dedication and legacy of 25 years of alumni, whose hard work and dedication to the project's mission have laid the foundation upon which we stand. Their efforts have shaped the trajectory of our endeavor, enriching it with a tapestry of diverse experiences, insights, and expertise. We recognize their invaluable contributions strive to build upon their remarkable legacy. As project members graduate from William & Mary and continue onto great things, we like to keep in touch and hear how they are doing! Ethan Brown
2019 Cohort
Ethan is currently a rising third year student at UVA Law School! He will be working at a large law firm in Washington, D.C this summer and hopes to pursue a career in the global regulatory practice after he graduates in 2025.
Sarah Murray
2005 Cohort
After graduating from William & Mary, Sarah took a job working in refugee resettlement in the US, providing employment and other support to refugees that arrived through the International Rescue Committee in Charlottesville, VA. Her experience there inspired an interest in public health, so she went on to get her Master's Degree in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on social and behavioral interventions within the International Health Department. She subsequently worked with ethnic-based health departments serving conflict affected populations in eastern Myanmar, reinforcing her interest in public health. She went back to the JHU School of Public health and got her PhD in the Department of Mental Health, and ever since has been doing research and teaching there as a psychiatric epidemiologist focused in global mental health. She recently got to return to Bosnia for the first time since 2005, working on some potential public mental health collaborations there!
Gabi Cao
2021 Cohort
Gabi graduated from the Universita degli Studi di Siena in Siena, Italy this month with a master's in International Studies! She also passed the CILS Level C1 Italian as a Foreign Language exam, a personal goal of hers, and this August she will be heading for Laos on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistanship grant.
Amanda Norris
2005 Cohort
After graduating from William and Mary in 2007, Amanda attended graduate school at Johns Hopkins SAIS, concentrating in European Studies. She spent a good part of her studies focusing on the Balkans, which served her well when she interned in the summer of 2013 at the U.S Mission to the European Union in Brussels with the State Department. Upon graduation from SAIS, she received a Presidential Management Fellowship and landed a job as a Foreign Affairs Officer. Since 2013, she has served in several parts of the State Department in Washington and Skopje, North Macedonia, including as an Economic Officer focused on internet/cyber policy, a Desk Officer for the E.U, a Political Officer in Skopje, and Special Assistant to both the Deputy Secretary of State and the Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights. In all these positions, she has covered the Balkans with a special focus on the Western Balkans transition to the E.U. Amanda also completed a second master's degree at the Department of Defense's National Defense University, focusing on E.U and NATO cooperation in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. She is married to someone from the Balkan region (Bulgaria) with whom she has three children, and they enjoy several weeks each year travelling to the Balkans.
Falan Kifle
2023 Cohort
Falan joined the Peace Corps and will be teaching in Rwanda after graduating from William & Mary this spring!
Megan Goyer
2020 & 2021 Cohorts
Megan has been working as a Program Manager for a nonprofit in Roanoke, VA, that provides free home repairs for low-income homeowners. She has also been working as the Membership and Program Coordinator for the Coalition for Home Repair, which advocates for the importance of home repair as a key solution for affordable housing. This fall, she will be pursuing her master's degree in City and Regional Planning at UNC Chapel Hill!
Olivia Olson
2022 Cohort
In September 2023, Olivia moved to London to pursue her MSc Degree in International Relations at the London School of Economics. She was awarded a Fulbright grant to be an English Teaching Assistant in Bosnia next academic year, so she will be returning to BiH after completing her dissertation in August.
